Hard to think straight when it's so late.

There were two more things I meant to say about Mark's suggestion to deter-
mine the envelope recipient with pwd.  Even on systems where pwd will report
the recipient's home directory, it's possible for several aliases to go to
the same UID, and pwd will give the same result for all of them.

The only reliable way is to get the MTA to put it where procmail can find it.
One way is to add it as a special header line (such as X-Envelope-To: or
Delivered-To:); another, available only if procmail is the LDA, is to invoke
procmail -a envelope-recipient -d real-user-behind-that-recipient.  Unfortu-
nately, for those of us who must call procmail from ~/.forward, the envelope
has been shredded by the time procmail gets the message, so the latter method
will not work.
