The best way to get such a thing is to tell the publishers directly that
you want one! Send email to Addison Wesley if you think an expanded
second edition would be good. Or email O'Reilly and tell them that
you'd love to see a cookbook. If you think Nancy McGough would make a
good author based on what you've seen on her web site (and I'd certainly
agree with that sentiment!) then tell them that also. You might be
surprised at just how much influence a single email can have. If a
publisher gets two emails on the same topic within a month that would
probably look like a flood of demand from the market. Really!

Thank you for the kind words Martin, but please everyone don't
email publishers and suggest that they ask me to write a Procmail
book! I've decided that that's not what I want to do because 1) I
much prefer writing hypertext documents (as you can tell if you
notice all the links listed in the pages in my sig); 2) I am
never finished writing / editing and it would be very hard for me
to turn my writing over to be printed. If you like my Procmail
Quick Start, bear in mind that I've been working on it since
1994. I couldn't crank out a book in 6 months or a year and have
it be nearly as clear as I think (hope) my Quick Start is; and 3)
I have dreams of actually making some money from things that I
write and put on the Net, and I want complete ownership of and
rights to all my writing.

About Martin's Procmail Companion: I think it is nice companion
to my Quick Start and AFAICT there's not much overlap.

About future books: As I said in my last message, I think
Procmail.org needs a Wiki! Maybe what we put into the Wiki could
eventually become part of an open-source book, but in any case,
let's start sharing our recipes, tips, tricks, etc in a Wiki
ASAP.
