Dear Nancy

Thanks for your mail.

Please see the mail header in bold character of a sample mail.

_Mail in the commonpop mail box

_/*From ganeshh(_at_)lateralsoftware(_dot_)com Fri Jan 24 18:14:11 2003
Envelope-to: commonpop(_at_)localhost (local mailbox)
Delivery-date: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 18:14:11 +0530
From: ganeshh(_at_)lateralsoftware(_dot_)com
Bcc:
Date: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 18:13:42 +0530
To: regina(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com #(Virtual Email Adrress of Valid Domain)
X-Loop-Detect: 1
X-Status:
X-Keywords:
X-UID: 8

*/In the above scenario, my To: Address is /*regina(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com*/ and my /*Envelope-to: */is/* commonpop(_at_)localhost*/,

how do i split the mail to to its intended mail box when my *e*/* nvelope-to: */is/* commonpop(_at_)localhost*/.

_Rather, please look into the next mail header_
/*
From ganeshh(_at_)yahoo(_dot_)com Tue Jan 28 18:18:47 2003
Envelope-to: vpai(_at_)localhost(_dot_)com (localmailbox)
Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 04:43:08 -0800 (PST)
From: VENKATESH PAI <venkat_pai(_at_)yahoo(_dot_)com>
Subject: CC mail testing
To: regina(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com *//*(Virtual Email Adrress of Valid Domain)*/
/*Cc: vpai(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com *//*(Virtual Email Adrress of Valid Domain)*/
/*MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
X-Loop-Detect: 1
Sender: Mycompany India <mycompany(_at_)mycompanylocal(_dot_)com>
X-Status:
X-Keywords:
X-UID: 11 */ In this.. though the To : is regina(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com, the Envelope-To: is * only* vpai(_at_)localhost(_dot_)com , as fetchmail pull the mail from commonpop account where virtual email addresses mails exists....

Where do i have to fetchmail , exim and procmail (if any),,,
Correct me , if i have not understood your explanation and let me know what i need to do....

Thanks again
Warm Regards
Ganeshh

With the help of Procmail mail i split the mails from common_pop account
based on To field to its respective mailboxes in the Linux Server and
the same is forwarded to Lotus Domino Server, the sample is applicable
to CC fields also. All this Works fine.

*_The Problem:_*

... is one the most frequent Procmail newbie problems or as era
eriksson says in his Procmail FAQ: "How do I implement a virtual
domain? Or, how can I let several local users share the same POP
mailbox at the upstream? Or, what is the most frequently made
wrong assumption about mail delivery?"

I discuss this in my Procmail Quick Start in the section

 Important Warning: Procmail Cannot Reliably Route Users'
 Messages in a Virtual Domain

which is here

<http://www.ii.com/internet/robots/procmail/qs/#virtualDomain>

Since you are using Exim, you should be able to use the
Envelope-To header to do the routing, but please let us know if
that works.

Good luck,
Nancy
