MS-TNEF bounces.

2004-02-17 10:31:48
I looked at using sanitizer with procmail to take care of issues we have
seen here with MS-TNEF encoding for messages, but I didn't see how it would
really be of benefit to strip the TNEF attachment and then not be able to
pass any usable part of the attachment on (which is what it sounds like the
encoding is designed to do - bundle the attachment contents into a
winmail.dat file).

That said, the best solution I could think of was to scan for TNEF-type
encoding and then send a custom bounce with instructions on how to disable
TNEF in Outlook.

Has anyone employed anything like this, and if so, would you be willing to
share it?

Thanks!

Chris
