Regarding locking log files ...
LOGLOCK = 1
[... processing ...]
LOGLOCK
might do the trick as long as one is willing to serialize during
the processing part. Alternatively, procmail might buffer all
log output until it has completed all processing, and then lock
the log file and write everything out at once. Then no explicit
LOGLOCK is needed.
