 All threading correctly here (mutt).

Threading uses In-reply-to: and References: headers.

Aha! Some of our readers seem to be relying more strongly on the
"In-Reply-To:" and others on "References:". And it has to be adjustable
somewhere as well. Ian and Harry are both using GNUS and it threads
correctly for Harry, but not for Ian.

I am using a Windows port of Mahogany in IMAP mode with server side
sorting/threading connecting to a Courier IMAP system and it doesn't thread
correctly for me.

Eudora is inserting a broken "References:" header.

Working with the same two messages I used before, Udi's reply to Sean's
original message in this (sub)thread, and Sean's reply to Udi PLUS the
original message that Udi replied to:

Seans original:

Eudora is breaking the "References:" header in a pretty spectacular way.
It's grabbing the LAST line of the previous "References:" header and
inserting it as the FIRST line of it's own "References:" header. It then
copies the rest of the previous "References:" header verbatim without
adding the "Message-Id:" of the message it is actually "In-Reply-To:" to
the end of the "References:".

I'll have to see if there's a way to get my threading engine to prefer
"In-Reply-To:" more heavily than "References:". It may solve some
sorting/threading issues I have on a few other lists as well.
