Delivering messages fails

2006-12-10 09:16:22
Hello

I'm not able to get my Procmail system going. I must have missed something. I

get the "Error while writing to" message. Man page says corresponding reason
is "Nonexistent subdirectory, no write permission, pipe died or disk full."
By elimination, I am down to "nonexistent subdirectory or no write
permission".

Who runs the procmail process. Is that root, user or an unprivileged user? Am

I supposed to give everyone write permission to my e-mail directory? That is
/home/user/Maildir?

I utilize the maildir mailbox format, as opposed to mbox. How does procmail
know which format to use? Am I writing the directory structure correctly in
my receipt? Maybe the messages travel back to Postfix, and Postfix knows what

to do.

For diagnosis, I give some information below.

Receipt:
:0:
* ^Subject:.*compilers
.Trash

Procmail log:
[user(_at_)box ~]$ cat proclog
procmail: Executing "/usr/bin/spamc"
procmail: Match on "^Subject:.*compilers"
procmail: Locking ".Trash.lock"
procmail: Error while writing to "_DIG+Ta3eFB.box.com"
procmail: Lock failure on ".Trash.lock"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=.Trash"
procmail: Opening ".Trash"
procmail: Error while writing to ".Trash"
procmail: Assigning
"PATH=/home/user/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/

bin"
procmail: Assigning
"LASTFOLDER=/home/user/Maildir/new/1165719187.25091_3.box.com"
procmail: Notified comsat:
"user(_at_)0:/home/user/Maildir/new/1165719187.25091_3.box.com"

Folder structure:
[user(_at_)box Maildir]$ ls -al ~/Maildir/
total 2728
drwxr-xr-x 13 user user 4096 Dec 10 04:02 .
drwx------ 34 user user 4096 Dec 10 03:53 ..

drwxr-xr-x 2 user user 4096 Dec 10 04:02 tmp
drwxr-xr-x 5 user user 4096 Dec 10 02:44 .Trash

I get the same error if I substitute .Trash with Trash (no dot).

Thanks for any hel
