Our customers can tweak their own .procmailrc files.
The logfiles are, technically, for the System Department's use.
My technique doesn't require explicit locks, and it works. Always.

It's not "My" email, as such, that we're discussing, you see.
When people violently disagree about something...
Most of the time, they're not actually talking about the same thing.
Even though both parties may THINK they are.

Sure, but isn't the _original_ eMail better suited than some
entries in your logfile?

Not if you have users who think that the NSA is reading their
mail. Keeping a copy of the entire mail around has privacy
issues galore for most.

Given that I still have no idea what your TRAP does, there is the
conflict of privacy (full eMail archive as with mailing-lists) vs.
insufficient coverage (_partial_ log-entries of what was said
opposed to full eMails, so people still can claim "I haven't
written this").
And you chose the latter?!
