My take is that you ought to remove the subsumed mechanisms -- since
developers have to implement the macro one, it will save them work not

For what it's worth, despite not liking macro expansions generally, the
power and simplicity really sway me. I liked SPV draft 1 for its
simplicity; this rings similarly to me.
Likewise. A lot of the standard reasons for not doing macroexpansion
go away when (as in this case) expressions don't have side effects.
