Hmmm... I seem to recall this being discussed before, and significant
number of emails arrive with bogus HELO strings. Either they aren't
FQDN, or they don't have A/MX records.

Bogus helo/ehlo is common practice. Thestreet.com helos with Wendy.
Most small businesses with Exchange servers helo with the lan or
netbios name.
