Yes,You are right,but if the Registrar offer this as free,why not ?I pay
8.50 USD/year  for each domain and dnsalias.net Custom DNS costs 24.95USD
more,of course is a solution,but I think must do a little pressure for
that all registrars that offer DNS will permit add TXT records in DNS,this
will do that SPF will grow much more quickly.

Pairnic.com for example costs 13 USD per Year register one domain and
permits TXT records.If You have more than 20 domains there is little
difference of money:)

It's not the domain registrar that matters, it's the DNS provider.  These
are
not always the same entitity.  For example, my domain is registered with
DoubleDomains.com, but I'm using dnsalias.net's 'Custom DNS' service as my
DNS
provider.
