Well, that all depends. If, as is the case for the place I work, none of the
applications you use are on the list of ones with problems, or the problems
affect functionality you don't use, it still makes sense. In many cases all
that's necessary is to manually open the proper port anyway.
At very least it's a good idea for our laptops, which routinely connect to
untrusted networks.
