RE: SPF Record Publishing Rate

2004-09-04 14:48:39
Or, like me, the holiday gives me time to work out and publish more spf records
for the various
domains I administer.

Subject: [spf-discuss] SPF Record Publishing Rate

The publishing rate (as recorded at the registry
http://spftools.infinitepenguins.net/register.php) continues to
increase. Using only error and warning free records, the rate is now
solidly over 2000/day. Most recent estimate is 2390 per day.

A linear fit to the acceleration over the last three days, integrated
out (makes the curve a parabola), shows the number of SPF records
published breaking 100,000 on September 11 and 1,000,000 on November
16. (Simple numeric integration done in Excel. Yes, I know
I could do
it analytically. That would give predictions a bit sooner,
but this is
a pretty iffy guess anyhow because the rate could change at any time.)

Evidently, the Labor Day weekend has not yet reduced the
rate. Perhaps
that means the rest of the world is contributing solidly and not just
the US?
