I've already done this in my Python implementation. I've heard and
understood the arguments that this is a bad thing, because then the
publisher will never know they screwed up. However, I block
a few percent
more spam by accepting SPF records with ipv4 and pretending
it said ip4
instead of returning "unknown" as required by the standard.
Based on observed incorrect SPF records, I have installed the
following
synonyms:
ip,ipv4 = ip4
That's a good idea, should be put into the specs to accept all 3.
prt = ptr
That's not a good idea, its clearly a typo, and prohibits the use of prt for
something real in the
future.
While I haven't seen any yet, I might as well add
ipv6 = ip6
for good measure.
