Bouncing MUAs, shudder. Is that a pre-MIME MUA, or do
you know why it doesn't use message/rfc822 ? I'm just
curious, because I've never seen a Resent-* message.
Pine can use message/rfc822 for "forward" or "reply". However,
having to descend an extra level of encapsulation in most MUAs
is extremely annoying. The 'bounce' function is like writing "forward to"
on a first class envelope in your mailbox without opening it.
The message/rfc822 thing is like putting the envelope inside a larger
envelope and resending it. Very annoying for the recipient to then
have to open two envelopes.
It wouldn't be so bad if the MUA would automatically open the enclosed
message and not show the extra wrapping when there is no additional
message attached. Perhaps some MUAs do this, but I'll never know because
Since MIME was invented, I have *never* received an rfc822 where the
resender resisted the temptation to add some insipid comment.
In conclusion, I wish that I could remove the "forward" function from
all MUAs, and give them a "bounce" like pine instead - or at least
remove the ability to add stupid messages to the forward.
