You know you can solve one of the major concerns with SUBMITTER by allowing
a DOMAIN only syntax as well to a full address syntax.
For example:
SUBMITTER=responsible-domain.com
as oppose to a full address:
SUBMITTER=user(_at_)responsible-domain(_dot_)com
No lost in the desire result, yet a big gain in reducing high potential
privacy issues.
You might want to add this. I personally feel it adds a more "ethical
feeling," an incentive for developers to consider supporting it.
Sincerely,

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
Title : Responsible Submitter of an E-mail Message
Author(s) : W. Leibzon
Filename : draft-leibzon-responsible-submitter-00.txt
Pages : 18
Date : 2004-10-7
This memo defines an extension to the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
(SMTP) service, which allows an SMTP client to specify the
responsible submitter of an e-mail message. The responsible
submitter is the e-mail address of the entity most recently
responsible for introducing a message into the transport stream.
This extension helps receiving e-mail servers efficiently determine
whether the SMTP client is authorized to transmit mail on behalf of
the responsible submitter's domain.

type "cd internet-drafts" and then

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in

or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt
Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.
Send a message to:
mailserv(_at_)ietf(_dot_)org(_dot_)
In the body type:
"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-leibzon-responsible-submitter-00.txt".
NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
