I'll second that statement. We must try to work with IETF as much as
possible first, including accomodating their concerns regarding SPF
protocol and its implementations (other then SenderID which is being
done without regard to opinion and technical concerns of majority
of SPF Community). Only if after long and serious work (and MARID does
not count as this was Microsoft thing) we are unable to agree should we
consider doing something despite them.

There is no intention on my part to incite people to replace the IETF, but
if the IETF can't do the job independent of all the commercialism's around
them, it's time somebody did. Or are you happy for the internet to slowly
fall into the hands of the biggest companies around -- just because they are
big? Are you seriously suggesting that we should continue to bang our
collective heads on their brick wall for another long spell before deciding
that it hurts and we've got better things to do?

The IETF will do what it does within the limitations of it's charter and the
influences it falls under. Unfortunately that just doesn't cut it for the
needs of the internet - and e-mail in particular. A new and democratic
body - elected from both the grass roots *and* the corporate interests
alike - will have a much greater chance to do a good job.
