This host MUST use "hosta.example.tld" in HELO.
that's exactly what i would expect, the helo should match the ip
address.

please read my posts, i never said the opossite.
I think the point that Alex was making is that, as he explained in his
post, the HELO does *not* match up with the IP address. You told Alex
to read your posts carefully, and then you have turned around and
failed to read his carefully.
true, i confused the hostnames, what i really would expect from
a multihomed host is that it uses the helo that resolves to
the ip address it's using to connect to my mta, in the example,
i will expect a helo "hosta.otherexample.tld" not "hosta.example.tld"
