If and only if these two conditions are met, YES.
I said nothing about the small domain holder (with only one domain,
and with "www" as the only record worth mentioning).
But he who has a "non-trivial domain portfolio" already uses an
automatic tool (macro processor or else).
Seriously, how many people with hundreds of hosts manage the zone file
by hand? They use M4, CPP, XSLT, Perl, but they use something.
