RFC2821 does have this to say though, in section 4.1.1.3:

      MAIL FROM:<userx(_at_)y(_dot_)foo(_dot_)org>
      RCPT TO:<userc(_at_)d(_dot_)bar(_dot_)org>

Yes it will. The originating server will deliver it to d.bar.org,
not a forwarding server (such as hosta.int). Your point being?

The example shows xyz.com receiving mail and relaying that mail with
changed envelope RCPT (i.e. forwarding the mail) while preserving the
original envelope FROM. This is what you've been calling "forgery."
RFC2821 says it is normal.

Note I am NOT saying this normal forwarding should continue. Times
change, and forwarding will have to be done differently. However, it
is not, and never has been, forgery.
