All of that may be true. However, we're not trying to get rich
through SPF, are we? So why should we cater to those who prefer
to believe in BS?

Naturally, no one here is going to make money on this. The reason
for considering what the majority of people think is that we would
like someone other than this small group to use and benefit from
the work here.

(In order to prevent any misconceptions, I'm not saying that most of
MS's software is BS. It isn't. The BS we're talking about here is
their propaganda.)

Obviously there _are_ people effectively caring about technology,
namely those who wish to relieve themselves of the burden of e-mail
abuse. If we can help _them_, then I'm content with that.

I agree with the sentiments. To the extent that the rest of the world
implements it or doesn't, the other adopters benefit a lot more or
less.

MS cannot afford ignoring good technical solutions in the long run.
Look at what happened with Firefox vs. Internet Explorer. Now
they've stopped ignoring and returned to caring.

I don't see much evidence that they care, but they may be secretly
worried. Technologists like us may like to think that even large
corporations can't afford to ignore the dictates of common sense, but
in fact they can for a good long time. They may not be able to do it
forever, but they can keep it up for longer than any of us will be
alive. The State where I live has standardized on MS for office and
mail infrastructure, as with most of my corporate clients. This State
is far from unusual, and it would be quite short-sighted to blow off
everyone in that environment. There is a large difference in impact
of a project that does something completely right, yet is used by only
a few, and one that does the important things right and is used by
nearly everyone. If you care about that difference, as do I, then
there's little value in saying the rest of the world will come around
when they get it, or not. This is one place where I'd much rather win
than be technically correct, because I care about email.
