Subject: Re: [fetchmail]WHERE ALL EMAILS GONE?
From: "rzmohd" <rzmohd(_at_)pd(_dot_)jaring(_dot_)my>
I found the said log file, its in /var/log. Unfortunately, none inside
mentioned about fetchmail. Its only sendmail log!
Correct. Fetchmail takes the mail from a local system and hands it over
to
your local SMTP server. Fetchmail HAS NO CONTROL over what happens to the
email once it hands it over to the SMTP server. Only the SMTP server
knows
what happens to it.
Pretty clear explanation, I'll check this out.
fetchmailrc used -- set postmaster "postmaster", whreas there's no user
by
name "postmaster"!? Where all emails gone?
Can I strongly suggest you do some reading and learn how sendmail works
(and
fetchmail). There should be an alias for postmaster to send email
elsewhere.
I do have some printouts on the sendmail, fetchmail and procmail as well.
It does says that 'root' will be the one, but none when I use Pine with root
logged-in, there's no emails for that users?! But do you agree that the
emails just gone?? -- just curious. Anyway I'll check it further, thanks.
As I said before - the only way to find out what happened to the emails is
to look in your mail log. Nobody here can do that for you.
OK ;-)
Please DO NOT send me ANY email directly unless it's a privacy issue.
Reply-to mangled to assist those who don't read the above.
