I understand his question and unfortunatly do not know the answer
either. His mail is being rejected by his MTA "Postfix (or at least
mine is)" because the mta requires a Valid Helo Name.
Localhost.localdomain is not correct format. Correct format would be
mail.domain.tld What he needs to know is how to make Fetchmail say to
his local MTA Hi I am "mail.domain.tld" so that it doesn't reject right
away.

This is v6.2.0 of Fetchmail on Fedora Core 1. It is sending email TO
the right server, the problem is that it is telling Sendmail that
"localhost.localdomain" is the name of the host that is sending the
email (both on HELO and in the MAIL FROM:), which is not desirable.
Well, you managed (1) and (2)...
If you still have problems, please let the list know:
1) Version of fetchmail
2) Operating system (ie RedHat 8.0)
3) Contents of .fetchmailrc (hide passwords)
4) Output of "fetchmail -v -v"
5) SMTP server logs for that run
You don't say why an ELHO of localhost.localdomain is a problem
(shouldn't be). You may be able to change it by giving fetchmail an
explicit SMTP server name (ie the hostname of the machine that you're
running fetchmail on).
