My point is that while I like a good, clean, academic debate as
well as the next engineer, that is all we seem to be discussing
in this realm.  RFC822 could be cleaner.  MIME could be cleaner.
But we only get to change what is really broken, not what we
simply dislike.  The power of the installed base outweighs our superior
sense of aesthetics.
