Unfortunately it was an older version of ISO 639 that was
described in a previous mail. Here is a more recent edition:

Technical contents of ISO 639:1988 (E/F)
"Code for the representation of names of languages".
Typed by Keld(_dot_)Simonsen(_at_)dkuug(_dot_)dk 1990-11-30
Minor corrections, 1992-09-08 by Keld Simonsen
Sundanese corrected, 1992-11-11 by Keld Simonsen
Two-letter lower-case symbols are used.
The Registration Authority for ISO 639 is Infoterm, Osterreiches
Normungsinstitut (ON), Postfach 130, A-1021 Vienna, Austria.

It is a bit more extensive than the NLM list - but still no taiwanese
Chinese. For the Taiwanese I believe it is because the Chinese
they speak is the same as on the mainland (some "dialect"...) and
the difference is in the writing, a bit like serbo-croatian,
which is the same language, but written with different scripts
(Latin and Cyrillic) in the two countries (Serbia and Croatia).
The mainland had reforms
on the Han writing simplifying the characters, and this was not done
on Taiwan (and other Chinese speaking/writing places).
