Hang on - isn't that the whole point of DNS caching? If people didn't
care about network traffic, no one would cache anything, they'd just
resolve the addresses every time. Apart from increased network

So, pretty much every caching DNS server is there to reduce network
traffic. Isn't it?
Pretty much every ISP has caching DNS servers *partly* for this exact
reason, yes.
The other reason is speed. Cached entries result in less latency when
the authoritative DNS server is on the other side of the world. :)
