Why ??? Maybe it's not as polite as you'd like to hear but it's usually true.

Working in the real world, today, is _not_ optional for whatever scheme
we settle on; it's mandatory. We _can't_ require third parties to
'upgrade' to follow us. We mustn't make the same mistake which has been
made elsewhere.
I can't believe there will be any real good solution to spam without people to
make some minimal effort.
