It strikes as inherently required that a new use be evaluated for operational
impact. If the use does not look exactly like existing practise, it well might
create problems.
Given the operational importance of the DNS, the starting position must be
"first do no harm".
So it seems a Very Good Thing to have these questions get raised.
Which is why the really important part of this topic is the set of detailed
answers you provided, which show how DKIM compares with existing practises that
are known to be acceptable.
