As stated in rfc2440, it is based on rfc1991 which is much simpler
becuase it describes the protocol used by PGP 2. As Thomas already
mentioned, it is advisable to read other (cited) texts too.
Especially I think it is impossible to write an implemention without
the HAC or similiar information.
