As you know we are using tar archives.

Actually, I didn't know, which is why I asked.

I've used Kleopatra once or twice to see how it worked, and I've never
used KMail or GpgOl.

But if you dislike my example with a folder, which I chose to underline
that
compression is needed.

I'm sorry that I gave you the impression that I disliked your example.

Please ignore it and respond to the other points made
in this thread like compression for mails or just replace "folder" in my
example with "file" and there you go.

I find this kind of discussion about my example unhelpful and distracting
on
this list. If you want to further discuss this please do it off list.

Your tone makes it sounds like I've personally attacked you. I'm not
sure where I did that. If so, I apologize and I will try and keep at
least my side of the discussion more focused on the technical
discussion.

At risk of being accused of piling on, I'll note that the tone also came
across as something of an escalation, to me. (I don't know whether that
was the intent or not.)

As for "unhelpful and distracting", technical topics about how openpgp
implementations work seem to be helpful things to have in this forum, in
general. Yes, it might be distracting from another topic that Andre might
want to focus on, in this case, but that is not really grounds to shut down
discussion of it.
