Here:
An SMTP server MAY verify that the domain name parameter in the EHLO
command actually corresponds to the IP address of the client. If this
verification process is not performed, or if this process does not
complete successfully, the server SHOULD limit use of the identifier
to logging purposes only. If the verification process completes
without error (either in the positive or negative), the identifier
MAY be used for other purposes, as the server operator sees fit.
