If a 4xx wait: was received as a reply to a RCPT TO command, try to
resend this message to this specific recipient after the specified time.
OTOH: If this is a multi-recipient message, keep trying until you run
out of recipients (remembering which ones were rejected). This way if
one or wore were accepted these recipients will immediately receive the
message and it will then be requeued for a later attempt with a trimmed
recipient list.
Lets keep in mind that mix RCPT TO negative/positive reply codes works
only with automated server-based/router MTAs.
With MUAs, its very possible depending on the brand, it will stop once
the first 4yz/5yz is seen and will popup an error box indicating the
session was not completed.
Old school businesses stuck in their ways still use an MUA as their
"mailing list" mail sender. I tried many times to convince one
particular customer to install the list server they have in their CD
but they can't move away from their old integrated marketing tools
long paid for, and even after I got a feel in how these tools are used
to seek an easy migration, they seem interested but its still "moving
their cheese."
The main situation here is the need to disable the feedback to RCPT TO
filters the automated tracking and blocking of bad emails and domains
that never make it. When the outbound mailer begins, it finds th bad
emails in the block list and doesn't proceed anyway.
