Re: arguments against NAT?

2003-12-02 10:54:04
My question
for the list is is there a web page or other document anywhere that
comprehensively states the case against NAT?

Because until recently there was a widespread belief that we were stuck with
NAT and might as well make the best of it, and that we couldn't make the best
of it if we were criticizing it. Also there was a naive hope that NAT's
problems could somehow be solved and that the internet could function without
a coherent address space. Finally there was a NAT working group that worked
hard to legitimize NAT (its charter notwithstanding), and the existence of
this working group precluded any constructive effort to discourage NAT.
