EDI already addresses the largest business applications. Why would we let
smaller markets influence PEM's design more than what we really want PEM
to do? PEM needs to enhance privacy first.
No one is trying to "break" PEM, Bob. If PEM doesn't have privacy as its
top priority, it's already broken. I'd much rather fix it than dump it.
A Persona will not have the rights you and I have now. There also may be
little or no trust in the service itself. Many will attach a strong
stigma to using a Persona, as you demonstrate with "if someone wants to
be taken somewhat more seriously".
I use my own name and have no intention of doing otherwise. I also
understand enough history, including recent history, to recognize how
essential anonymity is to freedom. A Persona isn't a shield of anonymity.
It's a clown suit. We can not force other citizens to wear it in order to
speak their minds.
