Hello. I recieved the following email message on two mailing lists
today and several newsgroups (in particular all of the form
alt.religion.*, but I did not look beyond that). This is a simple
complaint asking for you to take the appropriate measures against the
people responsible for this.

I will include a complete copy of the letter and a somewhat annotated
copy to illustrate the lengths to which these people went to violate
peoples privacy and the most fundamental rules of ettiquette on the
internet.

Please do something about this.
Thank you for your time

This is a valid machine. I fear that I cannot say with
confidence the same about the address. The mail for this address is
handled by tink.com and camb.com (in the other order). Currently port
25 of camb.com is not being very friendly.

A bit more info about this mail address.

This address is in fact being sent to a fax machine on phone number 1 718
9671550 via the experiment in remote printing email to fax gateway. The
current moderator of this group is Mr. Arlington Hewes AKA Darren Nickerson.
The interface has been set up to allow a free email to fax gateway to assist
internet users (particularly students) In their FAQ there is a request to
notify regarding abuse of the system which I think this spam is. I will
email to this newsgroup (which I am a member) requesting something be done
about the above number but it may not be that easy.

The way the fax gateway is set up multiple remote printers may receive mail
for the same address. In playing with this system I have received mail from
three different remote printers when I have sent mail to my Melbourne Aust
fax modem.

I would assume that the above number which I think is in Brooklyn Queens or
Richmond NY in the US must be attached to a fax modem rather than a fax
(otherwise could someone local feed a couple of toilet rolls through their
fax machine - prints not plain - ;-) ) On a fax modem the best its going
to take a long time to fill his hard disk but with a bit of imagination and
a CDROM of phone Nos names and addresses it wouldn't take too long for the
value of the so-called promotion to wane in sifting through the bogus
responses. But that would mean lowering ourselves down to the level of
the spammers ...almost

If anyone is interested in the email to fax stuff send an email request to
the following address:

and to get details of coverage for faxing send to
     tpccover(_at_)info(_dot_)tpc(_dot_)int
