Comparative discussion between 'procmail' and 'mailagent'

1997-02-06 03:42:27
Howdy. A colleague of mine and I had a conversation a week or so ago
pertaining to a semi-large mail server project that she is responsible for
designing and implementing. Based on my experience with procmail I
suggested she look into procmail and smartlist.

Today she stopped by and asked me about the mail handling program
'mailagent' by Raphael Manfredi
<ram(_at_)ptnos02(_dot_)grenoble(_dot_)hhp(_dot_)com>. Seems that
another colleague of hers suggested she use this utility instead of
procmail.

I was able to give her the salient points of why to use procmail however I
could not speak intelligently about mailagent. Can anyone on this list
provide me with some thoughts on why you should use procmail over mailagent
or any other mail handling utility?

I firmly believe that procmail is the utility she should use but then again
I'm biased. <grin>

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best.
