I installed procmail and sendmail 8.8.7 and used
feature procmail as local mailer
I got an entry in Mlocal:
Mlocal, P=/usr/local/bin/procmail, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn9, S=10/30,
R=20/40,
T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix,
A=procmail -Y -a $h -d $u
Now when mail bounces the postmaster gets the error:
RCPT To:<bear(_at_)caroll(_dot_)com>
<<< 553 <bear(_at_)caroll(_dot_)com>... User unknown
550 bear(_at_)caroll(_dot_)com(_dot_)(_dot_)(_dot_) User unknown
procmail: Unrecognised options: "Y"
Usage: procmail [-vpto] [-f fromwhom] [parameter=value | rcfile] ...
Or: procmail [-to] [-f fromwhom] [-a argument] -d recipient ...
Or: procmail [-pt] -m [parameter=value] ... rcfile mail_from rcpt_to ...
Processing continued
Obviously the sendmail 8.8.7 configuration files assume
that procmail as a local delivery agent accepts the
"-Y" flag (else why is it under A=procmail -Y -A $h -d $u ???)
But why does procmail reject option "Y"?
