Lockfile on $DEFAULT?

    If I am reading the man pages correctly, I do not need to specify a
lockfile if delivering to $DEFAULT.  In other words, this will work:

:0
* <_various_conditions_here_>
$DEFAULT

without a lockfile specification.

    Am I correct?  Usually for me $DEFAULT is the system mail spool,
but sometimes I set it to a folder name.

    (I will get any replies from the list.)
