Re: Microsoft Exchange base64 encoding testand html messages?
In the last month I have been getting a lot of false positives
from my rule that tags base64 encoded text or html as spam.
It seems to be that the latest(?) Exchange server implementations
or upgrades are default (mis)configured to to do this. Here is
an example from the headers of a recent message:
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.0.6375.0
Can anyone corroborate this? And more to the point do you
I read your post the other week; but, no, I can't corroborate it.
The X-MimeOLE: header has nothing to do with confirming or
indicating base64 encoding. In fact, most every Microsoft
client, and many non-Microsoft clients, include this header.
It's part of my own test for fake MS clients, btw.
So I'm not really sure what you are saying.
From my last-100 *good* mail archive:
6:54pm [~/Mail/.mailcache] 613[0]> grep -i ^X-MimeOLE: * | wc -l
42
[80.129.27.81 -> panix5] {dman} [1.88]
6:55pm [~/Mail/.mailcache] 614[0]> grep -i base64 * | wc -l
4
