My apologies in advance if this has been asked before (I'm
willing to bet it has but I've yet to find a real usable search

Does anyone know of a virus scanner that works with procmail in a
manner similar to how SpamAssassin works with it?

As a gentle warning or notice to new list members, let me
state publicly that this list works in the old-fashioned
guise where it is anticipated that subscribers will take
at least a modicum of initiative and either look through
the very fine, searchable archives linked from www.procmail.org
(link is far down on the page) or simply read along for a week
or two to familiarize themselves with common themes and requests
from the list.

I realize this is a different way of operating from the dummied-
down lists of modern times, such as I have witnessed personally
when I visited, e.g., the Microsoft newsgroups via Usenet to
find some quick answers. It dawned on me rather quickly (was
shoved in my virtual face) that dozens of people typically just
come by daily and ask, ever again, the same questions, without
ever first even bothering to read the current threads visible
by subject-line in the newsgroup. I think (or hope) my analogy
is clear. That's not what our group project with this list is
supposed to emulate.

Anyway, there are lots of packaged virus rc-files people have
published to work with procmail, mine being one of many. A
number of the more useful ones are published at Nancy McGough's
QuickStart site, which is also linked from the procmail.org
page.

If, however, you mean a compiled program with library updates
available, we've been toying with good results at my shell
provider with clamscan.
