As Dallman pointed out to me, that is not a very good example, because
in this case the relative approach
LOGFILE = "LOG/pm.$YYYY-$MM.log"
can be used.
(similar to MAILDIR, setting LOGFILE is also doing more than just
setting a variable to another value: it switches the stderr-handle)
