One way arround this would be a better protocol for subscribing to and
managing mailing lists than we have at present.

A signup request should be recognizable as such.

OK say I want to cause moveon.org or elect-bush-2004.com to be
blacklisted.

All I need to do is to use a web crawler to scan the web
for addresses
and then enter each one in turn into the 'signup request' web form.
There are bound to be some spam traps in the mix.

There are gangs of politically motivated hackers who spend
their time
arranging exactly this type of thing.

I never said that a single spam trapped spam should cause the
sending IP address to be blacklisted. I know of no
blacklists that are this strict.

But if someone entered larger quantities of spam trap
addresses into such 'signup request' web forms, I can't help
it. At least, there'd be a chance to track the abuser who
entered all these trap addresses (the web form's web server
knows the IP address of the person who entered the addresses).
