OK, let me write up an outline of the alternative workaround and y'all
can decide if it is less onerous / more deployable than SRS.

Some degree of onerousness is unavoidable, the only question is who's
onboard with what, and which solution is more palatable.

If all the right people get behind a "hard" solution, it suddenly
becomes less hard.  We know how many people have gotten behind SRS;
let's ask ourselves who might get behind the alternative I have in
mind.

We are on the cusp of having critical mass, not just in the "early
adopter" field, but in the key industry sectors who need to go along.
A nudge in the right direction now will go a long way.
