mailinglist stats
for 10/04/04
These stats are not intended to be taken that seriously, they are
mostly just for fun. If people find it annoying or inappropriate, I
will certainly stop it.
No Wayne, please do not stop on account of me. :-) And please don't mind
me. I'm just a stickler when it comes to details like this so it
would nice
to be technically correct about it if you could. :-) I mean, I didn't
think I posted 18 mesages in the past month, so I did a quick SPF-DISCUSS
folder search for my winserver support address and came up with much less.
Then I noticed the other address.
In 1995/96 or so I wrote a utilty to post stats like this for our support
newsgroups, that including:
- Top 10 Posters
- Top 10 hottest topics (by thread/message count)
- Support Efficiency, number of new messages with replies vs messages
with no replies
- XY chart showing the busiest hours and days of the week.
etc.
I haven't use it in awhile. I could use the same utility for this mailing
list. But I don't want to step on your toes. Do I have your permission to
try this utility here? I won't bother if you are more
interesting in fixing
your program. :-)
Thanks

If you would, it might be useful to run your utility for the spf-help list
(don't know if your subscribed there or not). No one is publishing posting
stats for that list. There are a number of us who try to answer everyone's
questions and your support effeciency metric would probably be relevant.
Also, if answering questions on spf-help started getting a person's name on
a top posters list, that might incentivize more people to help answer
questions....
