One of the oldest lessons of this very immature medium we call email is that 
colorful metaphors are often misunderstood, misapprehended or mis-whatever.  
Often best to give them a miss, and stick with plain declarative language.

This list could use fewer colorful metaphors and more plain language restricted 
to its intended topics.  I do a lot of lurking on this list.  I'll tell you all 
that your productivity goes way down when you let your rising blood pressure 
spill over into your messages.  Want to accomplish something?  Avoid the 
colorful metaphors.
