There's one piece of structure we may want to consider: The version.
domain.tld 86400 IN SPF 1 mx -all
domain.tld 86400 IN SPF pra ?all
in stead of
domain.tld 86400 IN SPF v=spf1 mx -all
domain.tld 86400 IN SPF spf2.0/pra ?all
or something similar.
That is a great idea! It is incremental, and leaves the door open to a
more efficient binary format in the future (with its own version).
Remember that version would need to be binary and not alphanumeric (it may
still be alphanumeric when record is entered if bind understands and knows
scopes) with its own IANA registry.
SPF2 records also have both major and minor and scope as parts so just one
"pra" is not enough as a replacement.
