You are describing a ZONE and are calling it a domain. That in
itself is not wrong, because a zone _is_ a domain. However, it
is not true that a domain must be a group of hosts.

A zone is *not* a domain. A zone is a portion of the DNS tree. A
zone has a root at a particular domain name, but it isn't a domain.
A zone includes all records within that portion of the DNS tree.
