Dear community.
As per council resolution #14[1], I would finally like to solicit
applications for a webmaster for the official SPF website. The position
is unpaid and entirely honorary for the benefit of the SPF project.
(For now, Wayne and I will together occupy the second webmaster position,
as we are most proficient with the site's setup. In the future, a second
regular webmaster position may be solicited to replace Wayne and me.)
Duties
------
The duties of the webmaster will be to keep the site up to date, edit its
content based on community input and in accordance with what the council
decides, and generally do for the site what webmasters do (process
webmaster@ mail, keep the Apache server running, etc.). Brief regular
reports, either to the spf-council mailing list or at council meetings,
will have to be given.
Requirements
------------
The webmaster must be willing to conduct their work as a delegate of the
council, as established by resolution #14[1]. About 5h/week will have to
be volunteered on average. Short response times (<36h) to the council
are desired, and times of absence should be announced at least 48h in
advance.
The webmaster must be able to write in clear, concise, and mostly correct
English, and to develop and maintain a well-structured site topography.
They must be comfortable with using a Debian/Linux system, and must be
proficient with Apache 1 administration. They and must also know, or be
willing to learn, Apache 2, mod_perl/mod_perl2, and _basic_ Mason
(immediately) and UseMod Wiki[1] (later) administration.
If you would like to take on the duties of the webmaster for the official
SPF website, please reply to this message publicly and comment on how well
you think you match the above requirements; please don't write long
essays, just quickly introduce yourself with regard to the above. You may
also nominate others.
On or after Wednesday, 2005-06-15, the council will then formally decide on
who will be appointed to the webmaster position.
Julian,
SPF Council Member.
