On a plus side, 'customer support' is still up and running for spf, so
when people have problems or questions they will usually get proper help
and instructions from some of the most experienced SPF guys out here
within a week.
What exactly do you mean by Customer support? By customer support do
you mean support people that are trying to implement spf like libspf2.

This (libspf2) is just one of the implementations of SPF. What you're
experiencing is not a problem with SPF, but with a specific
implementation of it. The only 'implementation' that is supported in the
SPF forums are the examples available in Mail::SPF::Query.

I have been trying to get libspf2 to compile and work on SuSE linux for
two weeks now with no joy.

Did you try compiling the source RPM for Red Hat? In that case, a look
inside the spec file will answer your question in the 5th and 6th line:

# NOTE THAT THE TEST SUITE IS CURRENTLY BROKEN
# YOU MUST USE rpmbuild --without checks

Following this advice, the sources compiled cleanly on SuSE 9.3 here.

Otherwise, a look at the README and TODO files would also have told you
that the test suite is quite broken at the moment and should not be
used. People asking questions that are answered in those files are
commonly ignored by busy developers. We don't always have time to tell
people to RTFM.
