Sigh... "everyone" stands for folks interested in finding and discussing
errata, so far Alex, Scott, Stuart, Wayne, William, you, me, and if I
forgot one or two it's still less than ten.

No, we need clear responsibilities. Maintaining the list of errata is an
important task. It can't be done by unspecified volunteers. Look at how
the website transition is doing if you don't believe me.

And maintaining the list of errata requires coherence, too. Everyone can
post erratum proposals to spf-discuss. Everyone being able to post
erratum proposals to a web page doesn't change much. What we need to do
now is to go one step _further_.

We need someone to take responsibility and see to it that it actually gets
done. That means collecting and actively soliciting errata on the mailing
lists, writing them onto a web page in a coherent way, providing the
council with stuff to decide on, and organizing the errata on the page
depending on the council's decisions. IOW, exactly what Wayne did when he
edited the RFC document, just with a s/RFC document/web page/ for now.

Someone on the IRC channel urged that Wayne, in his position as the author
of RFC 4408, maintain the list of errata. I'd be fine with that, too, but
we need _someone_ to do it.

The RFC (and errata) authoring process is not something I would like to
open up to the world

There must be something between "one" and "world". It's a Wiki or svn,
it's possible to fix dubious ideas in the working copy.

My concerns are not about vandalism but about coherence.
